SUMMER CAMP ages 8 - 14 Come & be inspired by our award-winning artists as they unleash your creativity! Week-long sessions include expressive art, fiber arts, knitting, animal art, fashion illustration, accessory design, fairy & elf creations and more! Lunchtime activities include rail trail walk, outside games and/or playground visits at the top of Halpin Lane. All materials included. Parents provide lunch. Air conditioned studio! EXPRESS YOURSELF! Full Day Session: 10am–3pm ($350 members/$375 non-members) These camp sessions, both morning and afternoon, are about awakening and releasing the creative spirit in all of us. This is achieved through projects that include studies of Impressionists, Expressionists, Picasso, Matisse, Mondrian and more. Join Guild member and art teacher Phil Smith as you explore all aspects of Expressive Art including drawing, painting, word poemics, art using natural outside materials like bark, rocks and much, much more! Phil Smith has been teaching and creating his own unique art and poetry curriculum called Expression Art at P.S. 41 in Greenwich Village since 1999. Half Day Session: 10am-12pm or 1-3pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Week Two: July 13-18 IMAGINARY ANIMALS & FUN-ISMS Full Day Session: 10am–3pm ($350 members/$375 non-members) IMAGINARY ANIMALS - Award winning Guild artist, Kim Hanna, will guide you through the creation of an animal masterpiece using mixed media on canvas. The students will stretch their imagination through drawing, painting and collage. Morning Session: 10am-12pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) FUN-ISMS - Your budding artist will get a taste of the greatest 20th century artists. Join art teacher Phil Smith as your child learns to imitate the drawing/painting styles of the masters of Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Dadaism and Abstract Expressionism. Each day, a different art form will be explored, and your child will create their own masterpieces in the likes of Monet, Matisse, Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Duchamp. Afternoon Session: 1-3pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Week Three: July 20-25 PROJECT RUNWAY Full Day Session: 10am–3pm ($350 members/$375 non-members) Fashion Illustration - Heidi Beutler, a former NYC Fashion Illustrator and Art Director for clients that include Leslie Fay, Macy's and Victoria's Secret, will teach students the techniques used in drawing and painting the fashion figure and clothing. Students will create their own fashion designs and illustrate them to be displayed in Friday's “Runway” contest for best design. Morning Session: 10am-12pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Accessory Design - Debbie Crichton, owner of Art Bags in Bridgeport, CT, will guide students in designing and making accessories. She will explain how accessories can make an outfit POP, and how to accessorize for different occasions. The students will have an opportunity to make handbags, jewelry, shoes and more. Afternoon Session: 1-3pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Week Four: July 27-31 FIBER ARTS & KNITTING Full Day Session: 10am–3pm ($350 members/$375 non-members) Fiber Arts - Guild member Leslie Smith Jackson is a fiber artist who will teach students to have fun making a variety of projects in this hands-on workshop including handmade felt pouches and baskets, Kool-Aid dyed yarns for weaving projects, Kumihimo friendship bracelets and more! Morning Session: 10am-12pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Knitting - Guild member Mary Louise O‛Connell will teach the basics of knitting. Using colorful yarns, students will start with a basic square and work their way towards creating fun and easy projects like scarves and bookmarks. Afternoon Session: 1-3pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Week Five: August 3-7 FAIRIES, ELVES & TREEHOUSES Full Day Session: 10am–3pm ($350 members/$375 non-members) Fairies & Elves - Are you interested in exploring magical and whimsical places? Join Guild member Lauri Hill as she takes you on a journey into the land of fairies. Known as the “Fairy Lady of Ridgefield” for the whimsical flower fairies she creates each year for the Guild, Lauri will guide you in designing and creating your own magical characters. Morning Session: 10am-12pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Fairy Forests - - Lauri Hill takes students ‘into the forest‛ for the afternoon session. Students will spend the afternoon indoors and outdoors creating environments for their magical characters. They will build treehouses or fairyhouses and the furniture inside using natural materials. Afternoon Session: 1-3pm ($165 members/$185 non-members) Saturdays beginning July 11 for 8 weeks Traditional Drawing & Painting: AGES 7 - 12 Saturday: Starting July 11 for 8 weeks 11am–1pm ($160 members/$192 non-members) Students will explore traditional drawing and painting with pencil, charcoal, oil crayon andwatercolor. Lessons in light, shadow, perspective, color blending and simplified painting techniques are included. Works by the Old Masters will be introduced and applied in this intensive fine arts course. Open to students of all levels. Call for a supply list. Instructor Carole Miller has been teaching at the Guild for many years and has helped hundreds of students develop their talents. Traditional Drawing & Painting: AGES 13 - 18 Saturday: Starting July 11 for 8 weeks 1:30pm–4:30pm ($240 members/$288 non-members) Teens desiring to explore drawing and painting will benefit and find new areas for advancement in this Fine Arts class. Traditionally taught, there will be an emphasis on drawing techniques advancing to all mediums. Call for a supply list.
